SUP Paddle Sizing Guide
As you would with any paddle sport, you want to choose a stand-up paddle that’s the right length for you. This will make your paddling experiences easier, more efficient and more enjoyable.
How to Choose the Correct Length Stand-up Paddle
Choosing the correct length is straightforward. Simply add a few inches to your own height, depending on the type of paddle boarding you plan to do. Our online sizing guide is the most up-to-date and accurate source of sizing information for our paddles.
- Recreational/flatwater—Add 8-10 inches to your height
- SUP Surfing—Add 6-8 inches to your height
- SUP Racing—Add 10-12 inches to your height
Get Started on the Water
Many state DNRs, local parks and recreation departments, community education, non-profits and clubs, and paddlesports retailers offer courses and clinics to get you started stand-up paddle boarding.
Or if you want to simply rent a board and strike out on your own it’s pretty easy to get started. Here are a few tips:
- Stand in the center of the board with your feet should-width apart.
- Bend your knees slightly
- Power each stroke from your core, not your shoulders
- Be sure you hold the paddle correctly—the blade should angle away from you, facing forward
